Body awareness is the internalised understanding of what the body is, it’s shape, size and what it looks like. Children learn best when their whole body is involved in the learning process.

Some body awareness activities are:
  • Sing head, shoulders, knees or toes – or other similar body songs
  • Play Simon Says
  • Sing Hokey Tokey
  • Use hoops and talk about putting or placing the hoop on different parts of your body
  • Hop into a line – stand in front / behind / next to
  • You can also use scarves, small balls or cars on/under/through parts of your body
