School Facilities

 

Parkland School was opened in February 1974 and consists of seven classroom blocks (including Library), an Administration Block and community hall.  We are fortunate also, to have the Kindergarten on site.


The classroom blocks are named for unique aspects of this north-eastern corner of the city.

Awatapu (Sacred water - Manawatu River)
Administration Block

Te Matai (The forest of the area)
Library and Room 2

Totaranui (The early settlers block of land, approximately from Fitzroy Street to Brightwater Terrace)
Rooms 3 and 4

Papaioea (The clearing of the bush where P.N was built. "Behold Great Beauty"
Rooms 5 and 6)

Rangitane (Local Tribe)
Rooms 7 and 8

Okatia (Legendary tree which broke through the ranges forming the Manawatu Gorge)
Rooms 9 and 10

Raukawa (Local Tribe)
Rooms 11, 12 and 13 

 



School Hall

The school hall is available for hire for community use at a reasonable cost. Contact the office for details. The Palmerston North Judo Club hires the hall each Tuesday and Thursday.
