P.T.A. (Parent Teacher Association)
The PTA supports Parkland children's education through fundraising for resources and bringing the school community together through various events. You have probably seen us doing Friday lunches, school discos, and helping at different school events throughout the year. The PTA realise that fundraising can be a ongoing challenge so we try to limit the impact on families by focusing on a few projects a year like our popular chocolate fundraiser and calendars.
We are a small group of parents and staff who meet on the second Monday of every term. Everyone pitches in which makes projects fun and easy to organise. We love seeing new faces and getting fresh perspectives. Why don't you come and check us out?
PTA UPDATE 22 August, 2011
Our term meeting was held last week with discussion centred primarily around fundraising and uniforms. Key points from our meeting are summarised below. Peter presented another informative presentation and we even got spoilt with yummy carrot cake! If these are enough to lure you to check us out we meet on the second Monday of every term, for about an hour. Next meeting is Monday 31st October, 7.30pm in the staffroom.
Second hand uniforms
Loved items in good condition are welcome by the PTA for selling. There will be three price structures reflecting the item's description. You are welcome to sell or donate unwanted uniform items to the PTA toward this service. We also welcome donations of well loved-loved items. These will be washed and prepared for sale either by appointment or from 2.30pm on the last Friday of every term. We will also be available for sales before the school year starts, with dates/times to be confirmed in term 4. All items will be listed on Parkland's website (under parent information - uniforms) with contact details, price structures, and item descriptions. If you have items, or are interested in helping with this service as it grows, please contact Kath at the office office@parkland.school.nz
Friday lunches
We have decided to trial the addition of CookieTime Smart Cookies with both pizza and sausage lunches. These will be available at time of ordering so that they can be eaten at morning tea or lunch. Cookies are packaged and will sell for $1 each. There are two yummy flavours to try; chocolate chip and fudge brownie. These cookies have been chosen to trial for the winter term as they meet the FBCS criteria for schools, have the National Heart Foundation tick of approval, contain Omega-3, are lower in saturated fat and salt, and have no artificial colours or preservatives. This will start next Friday, 26th August.
Help is also urgently needed for cooking at our fortnightly sausage lunches. This only requires about an hour of your time, once a term. Your child will get such a buzz out of seeing you and it is a great way to meet new people. If you are able to help, or know of someone who can, please contact Kath at the office office@parkland.school.nz
