Peter Barnett PrincipalWelcome to Parkland School.
2022 will no doubt prove to be another pretty interesting year in terms of how the pandemic unfolds and impacts on both our personal and school lives. As in the past couple of years, we will manage any changes as they arise and will communicate these with our school community. The year will start with the roll out of the vaccine for 5-11 year olds. Please remember that if you are unsure about anything, feel free to contact the school office and we will be able to help. The School Newsletter or any other special notices will provide clear guidelines and should be referred to in the first instance. |
Carolyn JonesDeputy PrincipalTēnā koutou! I am the Deputy Principal of Parkland School and feel very privileged to be part of such a dedicated team of teachers and staff. The best part about my job is that I get to work with teachers and students from across the school and see the exciting and challenging opportunities there are at Parkland. The amazing parent and community support we have at Parkland also makes this a great place to be.
As well as ‘living my dream’ of being a teacher for the past 20 plus years, I also enjoy time with my family. I am mum to 3 children. We spend a lot of our time at race circuits around the country with my husband's motor racing. You can find me in the Te Awe Awe offices by Room 1. |

Megan Wilson - Team LeaderTeam Leader and Teacher Room 7
Kia ora koutou, I really enjoy working with students in this team and finding ways to challenge each other, discovering things that we don’t know yet and supporting new learning. My two children Braxton and Talia came to Parkland School as well as Kindergarten so we have grown in the Parkland community for many years now. My husband Terry has helped out with a multitude of sports and thoroughly enjoys it! Sky, is our delightfully energetic collie-staffy cross and she is into digging, chewing and taking us for walks. In our spare time, we enjoy the great outdoors - biking, boogie boarding, walking, camping, dealing with any litter lying around… etc. I go walking regularly and play in a covers band in my spare time! Come and say hello when you have a minute :)

Rhys HillTeacher Room 11It is my pleasure to be teaching at Parkland School and being part of the community. My focus in learning and teaching is to empower the learners I am working with. I have a passion for dispositional learning; learning about learning, how do learners act and learn.
Our aim in our learning community is to be striving to be independent learners, the learning itself is the reward. Knowing that we are learning with integrity is a key goal for me and the students I learn with. |

Hollie PateteTeacher Room 6
I believe it is important to follow your instincts, be curious, dream big, love what you do, keep an open heart and have fun. These aspects are embedded within our school culture which makes me feel so privileged to be at Parkland School. My girls, Lily and Esta have been through Parkland School and Archie is still here! We are busy with the girls Artistic Rollerskating, a love for the speedway, family visits to the Wairarapa, the odd game of netball and of course we have to splash in the pool. I have recently retrained as a primary teacher after spending 20 years teaching swimming. I may still dabble with the odd session in the water but my heart is now in a classroom.

Beth BerkahnPart-time TeacherHi, it is a privilege to be part of the Parkland School Community, an association I have had for 22 years, as a teacher and as a parent. It is a pleasure for me to work with almost every child in the school as I relieve in most classrooms during the course of the year. I value seeing the children grow as they learn and develop confidence. ‘Rise to the challenge’ is a strong focus of the extension programme that I run in the senior school where small groups of children are chosen to enter inter school competitions for engineering and creative thinking. Children may also be chosen for robotics, 3D design, coding, reading and mathematics activities. It is wonderful to be able to offer such exciting learning opportunities to the pupils at Parkland.
