Sonia Mudgway PrincipalI am delighted to be back at Parkland School in 2024, having left here as DP in 2015 to begin my own Principal journey. I feel very privileged to be leading such an amazing school, in such a wonderful community. I am married to Damon (who also works here) and both of our children went through Parkland Kindergarten and School. Parkland holds many special memories for all of our family.
I look forward to reconnecting with past families and colleagues, and getting to know the many new faces within our Parkland whanau. Come and introduce yourself when you see me at the crossing, or feel free to pop into my office. Visitors are always welcome. :) |
Carolyn JonesDeputy PrincipalKia ora! I love being part of such a dedicated team of teachers and staff at Parkland School. The best part about my job is that I get to work with teachers and students from across the school. The amazing parent and community support we have at Parkland also makes this a great place to be. I look forward to the exciting challenges and learning opportunities 2024 will bring.
As well as ‘living my dream’ of being a teacher for the past 20 plus years, I also enjoy time with my family. I am mum to 3 children. We spend a lot of our time at race circuits around the country with my husband's motor racing. You can find me in the Te Awe Awe office by Room 1. |

Megan Wilson - Team LeaderTeam Leader and Teacher Room 7
Kia ora koutou, I really enjoy working with students in this team and finding ways to challenge each other, discovering things that we don’t know yet and supporting new learning. My two children Braxton and Talia came to Parkland School as well as Kindergarten so we have grown in the Parkland community for many years now. My husband Terry has helped out with a multitude of sports and thoroughly enjoys it! Sky, is our delightfully energetic collie-staffy cross and she is into digging, chewing and taking us for walks. In our spare time, we enjoy the great outdoors - biking, boogie boarding, walking, camping, dealing with any litter lying around… etc. I go walking regularly and play in a covers band in my spare time! Come and say hello when you have a minute :)

Rhys HillTeacher Room 11Teaching and learning here at Parkland School is a pleasure, being a teacher is a joy. My focus as a teacher is dispositional learning, learning to be a learner. I strive to empower young people to be leaders and independent learners. People who take control in their own learning and support the learning in their community.
I believe in the power of a learning community where everyone is a teacher and learner. The learning happens in the mahi, talk and actions of that community. Through this, young people develop skills, knowledge and attributes of a learner. Our aim in our learning community is to be striving to be independent learners, the learning itself is the reward. Knowing that we are learning with integrity is a key goal for me and the students I learn with. |

I believe it is important to follow your instincts, be curious, dream big, love what you do, keep an open heart and have fun. These aspects are embedded within our school culture which makes me feel so privileged to be at Parkland School. My girls, Lily and Esta have been through Parkland School and Archie is still here! We are busy with the girls Artistic Rollerskating, a love for the speedway, family visits to the Wairarapa, the odd game of netball and of course we have to splash in the pool. I look forward to getting to know you and your families.

Beth BerkahnPart-time Teacher - ORS & EnrichmentHi, it is a privilege to be part of the Parkland School Community, an association I have had for 30 years, as a teacher and as a parent. ‘Rise to the challenge’ is a strong focus of the extension programme that I run in the senior school where small groups of children are chosen to enter inter school competitions for engineering, mathematics and children’s literature. Children may also be chosen for robotics, coding, and reading activities. It is wonderful to be able to offer such exciting learning opportunities to the pupils at Parkland. I am also privileged to oversee the programmes and learning opportunities for our pupils with special needs. It is so lovely to see the inclusive interaction between all of our children.
